Dr Nanda Shaheen on early years learning and special needs

If there was a veteran society for those who have a deep understanding and natural instinct for early years learning and special learning needs then Dr Nanda Shaheen would be a founding member.

Over the last 25 years Dr Nanda has gained her unrivaled experience teaching young children in Washington DC & London.

Her own education started in a London day school, boarding school in Ascot, Switzerland and USA.

This broad exposure both as a student and a professional has placed Dr Nanda at the other end of 40 emails; text messages; what’s apps; BBM and calls each day, from mothers that swear by her!

Her solutions are often things like; doing more Lego, using climbing frames in the play ground, changing diets, listening to tapes without imagery and it goes on from there.

All children can achieve the right direction and their own way of engaging in varied activities.

Children can be individually assessed, parents are then given clear and simple guidelines to follow.

Dr Nanda Shaheen started her career in Washington DC at the Lab school, where she was teaching children with dyslexia, ADHD and dyspraphia from 1990 to 2000. She moved to the UK in 2001 when she was counselor at Nitingale School in Wandsworth, a school for boys with emotional & behavioral difficulties.

Before setting up her own private consultancy Dr Nanda Shaheen was at Eaton House, a traditional prep school for boys from 2003 to 2015 where she was in charge of their SENCO department assessing and screening boys aged 4-8.

Dr Nanda Shaheen obtained her PHD in education in 2000, her Masters degree in special education & learning disabilities in 1991 and a BA in human development. She was educated in English & Swiss boarding schools and attended primary school in Kensington. She understands how to teach children the fun way.
